| Glossies is an experimental songwriting/production/collaborative project directed by Scott Masson (OFFICE, The Juliets, 800beloved, etc).
Every song is written during the recording process, as opposed to the more traditional method of pop writing some of have been involved with for over a decade.
This music was designed in an effort to dissect and deconstruct the familiar 3-minute FM single format, blur the lines of genre, obscure the relationship between listener and artist, ignore habitual Western instrumentation and production, deny modern musical marketing strategies, avoid career trajectories, while utilizing an atypical lyrical approach based on real life experiential "footage", rather than conventional singer/songwriter romanticism and idealism.
It's Glossies belief that this type of songwriting does not have to be "thrown together", nor a clamorous experience for the audience. Every composition, no matter how bizarre or perverse, can be just as deliberate or "crafty" as any ballad experienced through the intercom at your local dentist office. Masson's harshest critics have frequently panned the "pop sheen" he applies to his home productions, so the name "Glossies" brings an ironic twist to these less-than-commercial results.
